Did you know?

Did you know that nine out of ten big-budget Hollywood films are written and directed by men? That you are as likely to see an alien in prime-time television as an Asian-American woman? That women direct only 16% of the plays in U.S. theatres?

The Fund for Women Artists is launching a campaign to tell the world that it's time to unleash the power of women's creativity and Push the Envelope, Please!

Our goal for 2006 is to raise $100,000, and we have raised $30,000 so far. We are going to use this money to make our first Push the Envelope Awards to women writers and directors in film and theatre who are creating exceptional films and plays that feature diverse and complex female characters.

This first year is just the beginning - our long term goal is to build an organization capable of raising and distributing a million dollars a year to women artists.

Here's How You Can Help!

Host a party to educate your friends about the status of women in the arts, or better yet, help us raise the funds for a new grants program designed especially for women writers and directors in film and theatre.

Everything you need to plan and manage your party is here in our party host center. You can sign-up and create a custom party page in minutes. Your party page makes it easy to send email invitations, manage your guest list, track RSVPs, and plan your party.

You'll find plenty of party planning tips to make your party a success. Invite just your friends or list your party on our site to invite supporters in your neighborhood -- the choice is yours.
